E-Content Consulting managed the design, development, implementation and evaluation of the Construction and Project Management 2016 Virtual Workshop, a completely virtual 5-day workshop hosted by the FHWA Construction Management Team. A total of 317 FHWA headquarters and division office registrants participated across all time zones in the United States, including Puerto Rico, Alaska, and Hawaii.
The event was conducted via the FHWA ON24 virtual event platform, developed by E-Content and the On24 team. The use of the On24 virtual event platform ensured a highly interactive experience for all participants. The Virtual Event Center also served as the epicenter for the event. The FHWA Virtual Event Center set up contained the following virtual locations for use during the event: auditorium, exhibit hall, resource center, and networking lounge.
For this workshop, the core content would be delivered via webinars developed in Webcast Elite and deployed through the FHWA’s ON24 Virtual Environment as 23 simu-live (pre-recorded) presentation sessions and 1 live welcome session. All video recordings were done through the DOT Multimedia Team or by the E-Content team using HD webcams or iPad tablet. All recordings were edited in a professional post-production phase and synched to slides in the On24 webinar platform.
Participation by registrants and presenters was strong and consistent throughout the entire virtual event week. Feedback from participants and presenters was overwhelmingly positive. Participants and presenters both emphasized that because of issues, such as funding and limited travel capabilities, this event allowed them to access a wealth of information.
In order to maximize reach, the pre-recorded presentations were delivered 2-3 times each during the event, with the presenters live for questions in the chat feature of the webinar platform. In total, 55 presentation sessions (Auditorium) and 54 scheduled post-presentation chat sessions (Networking Lounge) were held.
